New Managing Director At ASVH
Category: Announcements
Story Date: 1/16/2012

Mr Karl-Henrik Heimdahl will replace Mr Niklas Lindgren as Managing Director of the ASVH, including subsidiaries and associated companies, August 15 this year.

Mr Heimdahl will leave his assignment as breeding manager and, consequently, his employment at Flyinge AB, which position he has held since 2008, in order to take up his new position at ASVH during August, 2012.

The Chairman of ASVH, Mr Per Lundberg, declares “that Mr Heimdahl, who has a background as a veterinarian, former President of the Stallion Selection Committee of the ASVH and a celebrated great competence in the area of breeding, will bring important knowledge and experience to ASVH of the core areas of the Swedish warm-blood horse (“SWB”). This is of great importance for the continued development work within Breeding and Sport and for attaining an improved position of the SWB in the world ranking. This work requires close co-operation with the regional associations and members of ASVH and will help to develop new market places for our SWB-horses.”

In parallel with his new assignment as MD of ASVH, Mr Heimdahl will carry on certain external, part-time activities, connected with his profession as a veterinarian. However, such activities will not enter into competition with his assignment for ASVH.

Mr Heimdahl asserts: “I have closely co-operated with ASVH during a number of years in various positions and contexts. In my new capacity as its MD, I now look forward to the opportunity of contributing more actively to this Association’s positive development and modernization. My professional experience and earlier work within ASVH, in combination with new experience and learning from my time at Flyinge, have broadened my view of Swedish horse-breeding and of the necessary future development of ASVH and its mission to support the Swedish breeding community.”

Mr Niklas Lindgren joined ASVH as its Managing Director in 2008 during an awkward period, following a lack of administrative routines, an indistinct member structure, external communication problems and insufficient co-operation with various partners of importance for ASVH.

Mr Per Lundberg, the Chairman of ASVH, has made the following statement: “Many of these problems of ASVH have now been solved. The new home page of ASVH, its computerized report of coverings and other IT-solutions have been put in place. Thanks to good co-operation with the member organization of ASVH, we have been able to prepare important issues concerning Stallion Regulations and Mare Selection. Many important development projects for horse-breeding have been carried out, with the help of external financial support, among other things. A new membership structure has been created, implying clear and direct involvement of the members and strong links with the regional associations.

It is indeed very pleasing to see that the number of members of ASVH has increased! Much of ASVH’s future work will be focused on such direct breeding issues as the design of the Stud Book, the development of mares and young horses as well as Breeding and Sport.”
