Criteria for Non-SWB Stallions
For breeding SWB Mares
Non-Swedish Warmblood Stallions are approved for breeding to SWB mares on a case-by-case basis. The general criteria are as follows:

  • The stallion has an attractive pedigree.
  • The stallion is approved in an ASVH-recognized studbook.
  • The stallion finished in the top 10% in either dressage or jumping in the performance test.
  • The stallion placed in the top at specially designated shows for young horses.
  • The stallion placed in the top at specially designated shows for young horses. Stallions that are 7-8 years of age must have top placings at designated shows, regardless of performance test results (minimum age of 5).
    OR
    The stallion has competed successfully in 1.45m (jumping) or PSG (dressage) regardless of its performance test results. For stallions 9-10 years old, good results in 1.50m (jumping) or Intermediaire II (dressage) are required. Stallions 11 years or older that are not evaluated based on offspring must have excellent results in international 1.60m (jumping) or international Grand Prix (dressage).

To have a non-SWB stallion evaluated for breeding to SWB mares, submit a copy of the stallion’s papers, testing, and the fee. (The current fee is US $ 75)
